Happy New Year! Rick Barker, Peter & Maureen Pressley, and I brought in the new year up at the yurt. Jay Dorr helped tremendously by skinning in, shovelling, fixing the stove handle, starting a fire, and raking the roof all before we got there! Thanks Mountain Man Jay!
Here is what Maureen says the yurt needs:
Large candle
butter
syrup
hand sanitizer (not soap, we have lots of hand soap)
Paper towels
2 tomato pastes if you want to make chili
With this latest bout of snow, it surely needs to be raked and shovelled out.

I packed in a roof rake for pulling snow off of the top of the hut. It is a lot easier to use than climbing up with a shovel and risking sticking a boot or shovel through the hut cover. The rake and extensions are under a bunk.
I replaced the stove handle also.

10.27.11- We went to the fort and everything looked good. Nobody living up there, yet. We could use some more wood, but it will probably be good enough for one more winter.

the hut is all dug out now, thanks to Brian, Karina and Mary. We had some great ski touring this weekend. It was great to spend time up there, so quiet and warm too. Enjoy!! I brought some cooking oil up there. There is still plenty of pancake mix and booze!!! Have fun Mary PS. Don't forget to keep the cast iron skillets oiled, they don't need dish soap to be cleaned.

The fort was in good shape last weekend. The south slopes were starting to get the sun crust, but the north slopes and trees were still fressh. We brought in a 2-pack of copper wool scrubbies and 3 lbs kosher salt. Still need canola oil, 1 1/2" sink stopper, and a writing tablet. I later saw a Rubbermaid tub at the Barkin Basement for $0.75 --this would make the dish wash-rinse-disinfect complete without needing the little sink basin (that doesn't have a stopper).

Just returned from the hut. There were no tracks on the summit going north from the parking lots on Monday afternoon. It was pristine.
The hut could use: paper towels, paper plates, olive oil, a sharpie, large ziplocks, and some orange flagging. There was very little kerosene if anyone uses that stinky lantern (outside). Please post if you take in these supplies, otherwise I will on my next trip.
I left a large shovel in the tree towards the sauna, marked with flagging, to expedite shoveling out the front door upon arrival. Also, the propane tank leaks, so turn off when not using.
I suggest we get some (4) chairs up there, so there is a comfortable place to sit. Any ideas?
