The hut needs:

hand sanitizer-purel-the type that does not need water

The hut has already:
box of dried potatoes
1/2 keg of heineken
TP-lots
hand soap and dish soap
1 jar spaghetti sauce
spaghetti noodles
tea
coffee filters
box of wine
1/2 bag of pancake mix
mix for chili-needs tomato paste
newspaper

The sides of the kitchen shelves are splitting. The pieces of wood for the shelves are 3/4in x 1 3/4 in x 6 ft? just the trim around the shelve is splitting. It looks like they had been replaced in the last few years, but they are splitting again.

The Sweep for September 2009

Many Thanks to all who were able to attend the Yurt Workday on Saturday and Sunday October 24th and 25th.

Special Thanks to Gene Korby, Shaun Murray and Rick Allington for spending Saturday replacing archway post supports for the bunks and splitting wood for the stoves. Their timing was perfect – had they not split the wood Saturday, a dozen of us would have spend a wet, windy and uncomfortable Sunday trying to split, stack and store wood in blowing snow.  Instead, we were warm and cozy inside the yurt installing the liner.  The installation had some challenges with seams and velcro not in alignment with structural ribs – however, clever solutions prevailed spontaneously in the field and the patrol team on site used materials at hand to successfully adjust and install a spiffy, bright white new liner – yippee!  We’re basically restocked except for paper towels we forgot and although there were insignificant mouse signs, the dishes are all bleached clean anyway!  Gene and Shaun took additional measurements to replace wood structural pieces for the kitchen counters.  The canine crew that patiently and faithfully stood guard outside the yurt in the blowing snow included Miracle, Sammy, Granite, Betty-Cocker and my good-old-pal Bailey.  All is well at the yurt site and the best news is we left tromping through about 4 inches of fresh, moist snow – should make a nice base for the season to come!

• Thanks to Bruce Smith for AGAIN hauling heavy yurt parts into site on his frame pack!
• Thanks to Gene Korby, Shaun Murray and Rick Allington with his Wiley-dog for rebuilding and replacing cracked bunk supports, splitting wood for all and taking measurements to repair kitchen counters!
• Thanks to Patti for helping me bleach, dry and store all the kitchen dishes!
• Thanks to Jay Dorr, Mike Hipsher, Kathy Bennett, Maureen and Peter Pressley, Mike Ward, Bruce Smith, Gene Korby and Shaun Murray for creatively installing the yurt liner!
